The logo of the National Australia Bank is displayed outside their headquarters building in central Sydney, Australia August 4, 2017. Earlier this year, a review by the country's corporate regulator found banks were falling short of meeting targets for moving First Nations people into low-fee accounts. NAB, the country's second biggest lender, said the new lending target highlights a surge of more than 140% based on its current lending of just A$413 million helping stimulate "sustainable business growth" among indigenous communities. "During the last two years, we have put the building blocks in place to better support our growing First Nations business customer base, from both a commercial and cultural perspective," said Andrew Irvine, NAB Group Executive Business and Private Banking. A sign adorns the building where Australian miner South32 has their office in Perth, Western Australia, November 19, 2015. As a result, production volumes at Illawarra operations are expected to be weighted to the second half of fiscal 2024, the miner said. Regardless, South32 kept its forecast of 4.4 million metric tons of annual metallurgical coal output from Illawarra, down from last year's 5.5 million tons. Production of metallurgical coal fell to 1.0 million tons in the three months to Sept. 30, from 1.3 million tons a year earlier. That was slightly lower than a consensus estimate of 1.1 million tons compiled by Visible Alpha.

The world's biggest dairy exporter also benefited from higher product pricing and strong demand for its dairy ingredients and foodservice channel. "We acknowledge that across the year, farmers will continue to feel the pressure from high input costs and a reduced farmgate milk price," CEO Miles Hurrell said. The dairy giant also expects inflationary pressures and farmgate milk price outlook to impact its production levels. That compares with normalized earnings of 80 NZ cents per share in fiscal 2023. The Auckland-based company declared a final dividend of 40 NZ cents per share, compared with 15 NZ cents declared last year.

An A2 milk sign is seen at the third China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai, China November 6, 2020. REUTERS/Aly Song/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsSept 18 (Reuters) - New Zealand's A2 Milk Company Ltd (ATM.NZ) said on Monday it had given notice to Synlait Milk (SML.NZ) after market hours on Friday that it was canceling its exclusive manufacturing and supply rights for certain infant milk formula products of company. A2 Milk issued cancellation notices on Synlait's exclusive manufacturing and supply rights on stages 1 to 3 of the dairy producer's infant milk formula as Synlait's delivery in full and on time performance during fiscal 2023 fell below the required level. Synlait did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment but A2 Milk said the manufacturing and supply agreement between the parties would remain in place as Synlait considers the cancellation notice. Removal of Synlait's exclusivity will give the dairy firm a chance to expand production of its English label product at any facility at a time when one of its largest markets, China, introduces stringent regulations for infant formula.

Australia's Nitro Software recommends $360 mln Potentia offer
  + stars: | 2023-03-02 | by ( ) www.reuters.com   time to read: +1 min
March 2 (Reuters) - Australia's Nitro Software Ltd (NTO.AX) on Thursday recommended its shareholders accept private equity firm Potentia Capital's sweetened takeover offer of A$532.3 million ($359.78 million), weeks after they rejected a A$526.9 million offer from Alludo. Nitro shareholders early last month rejected Alludo's A$2.15 per-share bid, after which Potentia hinted at hiking its offer, securing access to the software company's books and making a A$2.17 apiece offer last week. Nitro said it now considers Potentia's latest offer to be "superior" to Alludo's, and unanimously recommends shareholders accept it in the absence of any other better offer. Potentia, which has a 19.31% stake in Nitro, also said its offer could go as high as A$2.25 per share if it obtained a 75% stake in Nitro by March-end and if at least 25% of total Nitro shareholders accepted a scrip offer, Nitro added. Shares of Nitro rose as much as 0.5% to A$2.190, while the broader market was slightly down.
